Hi.

I was having trouble with a new install of XP. I
formatted the hard drive and put on a clean version. The
reason for this was slow performance, but otherwise,
everything was working well.

Now, I have no sound. I tried everything from updating
drivers, to directx updates and the directx
configuration / troubleshooting files. No go. Still no
sound.

I did have sound for windows sounds, until I went through
and updated all of the files in the windows update. But
at NO TIME was I able to get sound via Windows Media
Player for CD's.

No, after I went in to the control panel to look at the
settings (I made no changes) I am unable to hear any
sounds. Including the windows sounds found within the
Control Panel.

Please help, this is extremely frustrating because I
don't have any sound, and video stalls, or is extremely
choppy at best.

Thanks.

I have done this. In fact, the Window's update drivers
are more current then on the manufacturer's website. The
sound is integrated in the mother board.

Thanks.
