Windows XP no sound symbol vista

please could sombody get my sound symbol back on my vista
it is driving me mad.i have a new laptop and turned the volume
down on the tasbar and the shut the pc down and since then
the symbol has gone and i have no sound
thankyou
 
Start > Control Panel >Sound When you get there you should see a "check box" that will say something like "Add Volume control to Taskbar" Make sure that is checked, if not check it and your Volume control will come back
 
the sound and audio devices symbol has dissapeared from the

control panel??

You can try reinstalling the volume drivers. And this topic should be closed, as Vista is in the question, not Windows XP!

Alright, I've got ten minutes spare. Tell me where it is and I'll go fetch it and put it back. I'll even use some 'No Nails' to make sure it doesn't wander again.

Sometimes I'm a really nice fella :)
