NO sound since upgrading to XP from Win98

Hello,

I upgraded to XP Pro from Win98 and now have no sound
at all. I have a Generic PentII 1.85 with 256ram. I
have a Vinyl AC'97 sound card. Any thoughts on why.

Make sure your card is recognised by XP - go into the hardware device
manager. If there's a little yellow triangle, use the XP trouble shooter. If
not, and you r card is there, go to the next step.

Visit the manufacturer's website and download XP specific drivers.

Make sure your DirectX is up to date (v.9b)

Double click on the loudspeaker icon in teh systray and make sure all
sliders are at maximum and only the mic is muted.

Re-post if that doesn't work.
