No sound on Sony Vaio since Win Xp install

I recently did a clean install of Windows Xp on a Sony
Vaio 1.5GHz Pentium 4 computer to update from Windows
Me. Now I have no sound from computer files, DVD or CD.
I assume this is a driver issue.

I downloaded a driver called Alc_sound_wmd that was
thought to fix a problem with the Sony driver that was
designed for Win Me.

Any other ideas I can try?

Windows98/ME drivers will NOT work in XP. If Sony do not have XP drivers
for your soundcard, look for drivers for Windows 2000.
