No sound on email attachments

I'm not sure where to put this question - point me to another newsgroup
if necessary ...
Quite often I get an email containing a link to something that is
supposed to have sound, and I don't hear any - only the picture.
Any idea what I can do to fix this?
Using Win XP Pro, Firefox, & Thunderbird.

....or try the newsgroups : mozilla.support.firefox and/or
mozilla.support.thunderbird
on the server : news.mozilla.org (IP : 216.196.97.169), Port: 119, no SSL.

BTW -- bottom-posting is the norm on mozilla NGs.
