no sound in windows xp

I have windows XP and there is no sound comming from my speakers
I have seen under device manager' Multimedia audio controller has big
yellow and black "!" mark. I have accidentially deleted SoundMax
program from my computer.

This is a Win2000 newsgroup. A good starting point might be to
post your question in a WinXP newsgroup.
 
Check the manufacturer's web site for the latest Windows driver for your
device. If this is a new install you may need to install the mobo chipset
drivers first.

You did, in fact, post your question in a WinXP newsgroup,
20 minutes before posting it here. What's the point? Do you
get a kick out of posting in the wrong newsgroup?
