I created a presentation in PPT 2003 on my HP laptop. None of the audio
files will play even though I have reinserted them several times. This
includes MS sound clips as well as mp3's that I imported. It's not a
compatability problem since I created the file on this system. And it's not
a system problem, because I can play files on Windows Media and other
players. All I can figure is that is has to do with a setting or preference
in PowerPoint. I've changed the threshold for linked files to 5000 kb, and
still no go. Please help!!!

How are you inserting the files?

Know that the linked/embedded threshold is only for WAV files; all others
are linked regardless of size. That includes MP3s -- they are linked, not
embedded.

PPT can have problems if the path length to a linked file is too long. So,
one test would be to create a folder on your C drive (not on the desktop or
in my documents) and put your presentation and the sound files in that
folder. Then insert the sounds into PPT and see if they play.
