no sound in Microsoft Movie Maker

I just bought a new compaq laptop and also have a sony digital video camera.
I am having problems with the sound. When recording clips, the picture is in
the computer, but there is no sound. I have opened up the master volume
controls and adjusted everything.

Any ideas on how to fix the problem?
