am using Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 motherboard, the sound card
is not functioning.
So i tried to replace with another sound card X-Wave 3000-A, but is
not working may be due to compatibility problem.
Can you please tell in the compatible sound card which will work for
my motherboard Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 with XP-SP-2 operating
system.
Thanks,
Raj Kumar.P
Was the sound card ever functioning?
If it was then when did it stop?
What diagnostics have you done to check the current card out?
Have you checked that you don't have the sound muted, or that the speakers
are getting power and that the speaker input is in the speaker input
connector? In the System folder are there any yellow exclamation marks or
red X's for the speaker driver?

Read everything first before doing anything.
Try removing the sound card drivers from your system and the audio
device from your system by going to the Control Panel, then the System
Folder, and then clicking on the Device Manager. You'll be able to locate
the sound card devices. You may also be able to remove the drivers by going
o the ADD/Remove Programs. It's best if you can find out what each sound
driver is and then make sure it's removed. Usually from the Device Manager
if you right click on the device and then click Properties there should be a
tab to click for device driver files that will name them. Make a list and
delete them all. Shut down and then restart the system.
Download the drivers from the site below and run the sound driver
installation program and see if it gets the audio running correctly. If not
you will want to remove all the drivers again and then try reinstalling the
Yamaha card. The original AC97 drivers may be conflicting with the card.
Additionally you will want to go into the bios and make sure onboard sound
is disabled. As a matter of fact, before you begin go into the bios and make
sure that onboard sound is currently enabled, as that could be the problem
in itself.
The site below is for using XP-Professional and Home for the Audio drivers.
