I've had my Asus A8N-SLI motherbard running fine for months. The sound
stopped working, except for when I log onto Windows XP & when I shut
down - it plays the standard Windows login & shut down sounds. Once
logged in, I can't get sound from anyting: the control panel sounds and
audio devices form, any games, the AC97 control panel, etc.

This must be a software/driver issue. Everything is obviously plugged
in properly & the hardware works, albeit only on logging in & shutting
down. I have reinstalled the Realtek drivers from the Asus CD. It s
running Windows XP SP2, DirectX 9.0c,

I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks!
