No sound commin from speakers

Updated from Windows ME and now my speakers do not work. Receive area 19 message saying the product is not registered. I have registered it twice. Anyone have any ideas. After the first time i registered it the speakers worked for a day and then stopped. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jeff
