no sound after XP installation

XP installed in LAPTOP TOSHIBA A 10Settalite model but it appears that it is
not recognising the sound card as there is no sound in the computer

You probably need to install drivers provided by the computer's
manufacturer. You MIGHT be able to find drivers on the manufacturer's
web site. The degree to which Windows XP is supported depends on the
manufacturer's policies and the age of the system.

You might need drivers for things like your display, video accelerator,
network adaptor and USB ports too. These things are sometimes available
on recovery disks that come with the comuter OR a recovery partition on
the original hard drive. The recovery fuctions provided by some
manufacturers erase user data on the computers hard drive.
