I am running a compaq presario 5000t desktop w/ windows xp home edition, ati all in wonder radeon video/sound card and factory installed sound blaster live card. I recently installed DSL and promptly got the wormblaster virus. I was behind in my windows xp and norton updates, so I updated and ran the worm removal downloads on both sites. The virus is gone . My problem now is this--I have no sound what so ever. I can't get sound from my cd player, dvd, aol, I can't even get a sound testing in control panel. I have NO device conflicts, my volume is ok, nothing is muted, and I have reinstalled my ATI drivers from the installation disk and reinstalled windows multimedia. My ATI card is working just fine so I know it is not a hardware issue. I am going nuts!!! Anyone out there with some help??

Right click my Computer and select Manage
Under Services and Applications select Services
Scroll down to Windows Audio and make sure it is set to AUTOMATIC

I checked Windows audio and it IS listed as automatic. When I checked the properties for Windows Audio, under "Dependencies" tab Plug & play and remote call procedure are listed as items that Windows audio is dependent upon. Since I had the wormblaster and that affected the RPC, would I need to recheck to make sure that RPC is working properly or would that have been fixed with the downloads to clear out the worm?
