No sound after reinstalling

I have reinstalled win xp and now i have no sound, i need the drivers for
the multimedia audio controller for sound, any ideas to where i can get this
driver? I don't have a clue what sound card is in my PC. Can I try some
generic drivers?

Download the free system reporting tool from the following link. From that,
you can find your sound card brand and model. Go to the manufacture's
web-site and download the appropriate XP driver and install it.

If you go into 'My Computer Information'-Hardware, it will give you infortion including your sound card: manufacturer, model & driver. I have done this & printed all information & still cannot fix my prob. I have a sound card and have tested everything but still no sound!
