No sound after installing XP

I have a laptop, and just recently installed the new XP
Home addition to it. Now I have NO sound, and have tried
everything to now avail... what gives?

Did you upgrade ?

If so you will need to download the latest XP specific drivers for your
soundcard from the manufacturer's website.

Also, when upgrading double click on the loudspeaker icon in the systray >
make sure all sliders are up to the max and that nothing (except mic) is
muted.
