No sound after installing XP Pro

Have just installed Windows XP Pro and all seems to work properly except no
sound is heard from any source. Computer is IBM 2140 L31. The sound recorder
is apparently recording OK. CDs do not play and video online is silent. No
inputs are muted and vol is set to max.
Is there some setting somewhere that i'm missing or do i need another driver
and if so, what. Presently installed is Crystal Soundfusionunimodem
half-duplex device and Crystal WDM audio codec. All cables are installed.
