No sharing tab in Local Area Connection properties?

Can anyone explain the reason why I don't see a sharing tab in my Local
Area Connection Properties? I'm running Windows 2000 Pro and have removed
my File and Printer Sharing and Client For MS Networks components.

I've also closed a load of services in order to ensure that ports are safe.
Could that be the reason?

I've also noticed that I no longer see a "sharing" option in my explorer
shell for each of my hard drive partitions. Would this have to do with
removing the File and Printer Sharing component?

You need to re-install "Microsoft File and Print Sharing".

Unless you tell us which services you closed down and how
you closed them down, we cannot give you more specific
advice. If you wish to harden your machine against hackers
then you should install a firewall instead of randomly shutting
down services.

You probably have disabled the service responsible for internet connection
sharing.

Yes, of course. You already know, so why ask?

Btw., if you have a LAN connection on a separate interface, you can remove
the "binding" of file-and-printer sharing just from the internet-connected
interface.

It doesn't appear as a tab. Check the box for 'File and Printer Sharing' on
the desired connection. (this installs and starts the server service)
