When I select rows and columns in Excel 2007, the selected cells are too
feint to
see clearly (much darker in previous releases). Is I'm not referring to
Fill colours - just the colour/shading used when cells are selected, and want
this setting as default for all my workbooks and new Excel files.
Its just like you select a text and the shading is so faded that you cant
see what you have selected.

As I dont have Vista (I am assuming you on Vista) I dont know if this is the
same but on W2K:

Right click on your background and choose "Properties"
Go to the "Appearance" tab
Click on the word "Selected" in the illustration, and then choose colours &
apply

Thanks Nick, I tried this option and it does work to highlight the cells but
all the colours disappear from the windows. I tried all the options in
accessibility setting windows but all the same. I can’t see the icon colours
and can’t fill the cells or columns with colours.

Thanks Nick, I really appreciate your help and effort you made. The main
issue is, how to get the patch or help from Microsoft or get their attention
on this issue. I spend money on buying this software and I feel like I have
paid to try their product and wasting my time on pointing out the bugs and
also cant get my things done properly. I have feeling that I should reinstall
my Office XP and install 2007 again later when the things are much better and
bugs are fixed. What you suggest?

There will always be 'bugs' in software, the bigger the software and the
more the users the more' bugs' there will be. And Office, barring Windows
will have the largest installation in the World, not every change will suit
every user (You can please some of the people all of the time, you can
please all of the people some of the time, you can please some of the people
some of the time, but you CANNOT please all of the people all of the time)

Microsoft will not have made a change just to make it but someone somewhere
will have been able to demonstrate a real need for it to be lighter.

By all means fill out a suggestion on the support web interface for Excel
and MS 'may' get to it.

I have no association with MS or Excel (I run a tool company in the UK
www.northerntooluk..com), but have used the tools MS give me as an MVP to
let them know of this issue. Maybe something will happen at SP1 or Excel
