Hi there,
Movie Maker will not burn to DVD. I can burn 1.6 gig movie files to it with
Nero but not Movie Maker. My problem is described by this posting.
CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/316529
The recommended steps did not solve the problem but led me down this path.
I purchased a piece of software that gives me a nice and easy way to look at
the registries and modify them.
In looking at the drive registries I see something that looks odd to me. In
the folder I see at the bottom of the list, line items for drives A, B, C, D,
and F (I have installed a floppy, zip drive, DVD read/write drive, and the
hard drive). I have USB connect for mouse, keyboard, printer and 2 more
ports that I typically use for flash drives. The odd thing to me is that in
the folder listing the drives, at the top of the listing, there are around 8
or 10 items listed as drives but with no drive letter assignment. They are
described as “mountedâ€. In reading other help articles I am beginning to
think some program on the machine has installed a “virtual drive emulationâ€,
what ever that is. I am tempted to delete all of the “mounted†drives but
before doing so I want to ask if a program like Real Player, Nero, or plug
in probable drives could have installed such a thing?
Thank you
