Does anyone know why a user would recieve the "Password
will expire in XX day's. Do you want to change it now?"
notification when using a VPN connection and Windows XP?
Any information on this would be helpful. :o)

Thanks.

Jeff

Are you receiving the password change notification over VPN or not? The
subject of the message and the content of the message are contradictory.

RAS by itself does not intimate the user that the password would expire, it
is the job of the network logon process. Hence if a user dials-in or vpn's
after s/he has logged on with cached credentials, no network logon will
occur and s/he won't be prompted of the message "password expiring in XX
days". However if you use MSCHAP or MSCHAPv2 or EAP and if you have a 3rd
party device which supports change password functionality in those
authentication methods, the next time the user connects s/he will be
prompted to change the password.

I'm sorry... No, the users are not getting the change PW
notification when they are logged in with a VPN client.
The users are using the AT&T Global dialer and they seem
to not get a notification when they are using Windows XP.
However, the Windows 2000 users do get the change PW
notification.

Thanks.
