To all:

I have a secondary hardrive that was working until my
computer went down. I swapped it into another box and it
won't even power on (the hd). When it's connected with
the master, the computer won't recognize either on
bootup. I need some of the data off the hd, and I don't
think the drive is corrupted. I need to know if there's
any solutions short of sending it in for expensive data
recovery. Thank you all for your help.

If it won't even power up, I'm afraid it's going to be expensive. Very
expensive.

It's at times like this you hear the word backup and kick yourself.

It's even worse when the files you were backing up backed
up to the wrong drive which just happened to be a
partition on the drive that went down. Then you kick
yourself extra hard for not paying more attention.

Not unless you know electronic repair and have a working schematic of the
drives circuits!

I can almost beat that one. The day I purchased my very first CD burner to
backup files, I turned off my PC to install it and the hard drive decided it
would take that exact time to die!

We must be victims of really bad timing! But then again, you only really
learn by horrible experiences!
