Hi,

I have put Vista Ultimate on my laptop but I can't select to put the Power
Icon in the taskbar. Can someone help?

Many thanks,

DannyBoi

'Power Icon in the taskbar', do you mean the power icon in the systray? If
yes, in control panel, power, is the option set there?

1. Make sure you have installed all necessary drivers and System software
that came with your Laptop.
Some Power Options will only be accessable after the software has
enabled them.
( i did a vista install on a IBM T23 with exact the same issue, after
installing IBMs "BatteryMaxiMiser" the Vista Power icon was showing up )

2. Make sure you have the icon turned on to be visible :

Properties of Taskbar and Startmenu ( rightclick taskbar) :

there are tabs with more options - the third tab has Options for what is
shown or hidden in systray.

( I have a german vista - there is no logical translation in my mind .. but
its somewhere on the 3rd tab )

I also am having an issue with the "Power System Icon" being displayed in the
"System Tray" area. I use the power icon in a different manner than what
laptops use it for. I use it for specific direct access to enable or disable
the 1 minute auto-turn off option for my monitor display. When I turn my PC
on and I want the display on I don't want it shutting off after one minute,
but since the PC is in the same room I sleep I want to have a quick
easy-access option to turn it off since I use my PC as an alarm clock as
well. This option was available in Windows XP, why is it disabled
"greyed-out" for every-time use in Windows Vista?
