Hi

I have added a new user on my XP Pro computer. The 1st thing I do is
configure
Outlook 2002 with defaults and my ISPs SMTP server details (test account is
OK). But as soon as I try to "Send/Receive", I get the error "You do not
have
appropriate permissions to perform this operation".

I have removed the user and added another user, this time with
"administrator"
privileges but get the same error! I even uninstalled Outlook 2002 and added
Outlook 2003 but still get the same error!

My own user account (administrator) is not having any problems with Outlook.

Does anyone have any idea which permissions are missing?

Ian.

Hey Ian, I was having the same problem as you just the other month.
Unfortunately I never found a direct answer to the problem, so I ended up
wiping my whole system and starting from scratch by reinstalling win-xp and
reapplying all of it's updates. boy was that a fun weekend! My problems
started for me after I had applied Office XP SP3 update! No matter what I
did to provide a clean mail account for my user, I got the same consistent
error. Microsoft's problem search engine wasn't;t a bit of help! I have
since just upgraded back to the SP2 version of Office XP (outlook 2002)
updates and have not experienced that problem again. Mille and I here on
this board tried several alternatives before I gave up hope. I know this is
not the answer that you were hoping for, but it is the only alternative that
I found to resolve this particular problem. Good luck . . . . Tom Johnson
