When I log in to W2K I get the "no paging file or paging
file too small" message. The system then either hangs or
sends me back to the login dialog.

The KB article basically tells you to resize the paging
file, but I can't do that since I can't get into the
system (I've tried safe mode).

Any other way to fix this? I can supply more details about
how this happened if necessary, but I mainly just want to
fix it. TIA.

You may have to edit the registry of the problem machine via
a network connection to point the paging file back to where
it belongs:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\
Memory Management

It would really be nice to know some of facts. We will try to help, but right now
it's like going hunting at night, with no light.

Only works in North Alaska, where you would have a very large light.

Anyway, let's give it whirl.

I have a question: why does this message come up?? Everytime I've gotten the
message, I would usually reinstall Windows 2K. Because Last Known Config
wouldn't help. None of the repair functions would work, even resizing the
file. But one thing did work. I have multiple partitions. The only paging
file I had was the one on the C partition. When I added paging sizes to the
other partitions, so far, I haven't had any paging file messages.

Is it a operating system glitch or something caused by applications??
