no outgoing mail

I have made changes to an earlier problem from advice on this site now....
I have changed the outgoing mail server and I am still unable to emailout.
The new error message is -
The host 'smtp.outgoing.verizon.net' could not be found. Please verify that
you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'test', Account: 'Windows Mail', Server:
'smtp.outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus.
What anti-virus is it?
Verify your port and other settings with Verizon.
 
I don't get any error messages. My mail goes to the outbox but it is not
sent. I have McAffee Security Center installed. I have tried sending mail
with it outgoing mail scan turned off.

The server is outgoing.verizon.net , not smtp.outgoing.verizon.net .

Uninstall McAfee (do NOT replace it with Norton. Remove the account and
close WinMail. Then, after reading Ron's post, open WinMail and reinstall
the account.
