Just had Office 2003 installed on my work laptop and I
seem to have lost the feature that allows me to save my
various User IDs and passwords (I have a rather longish
name and - lazy butt that I am - typing an re-typing my
name is drag...). The check box that usually accompanies
the Log On box is MIA.

I have taken the steps to enable AutoComplete and have
cleared previous passwords out of the system. The
situation above is still a No Go.

Any thoughts/ advice/ pearls of wisdom on how to regain
this feature?

If no joy....(Courtesy Sandi Hardmeier, MS-MVP):
Verify that password caching is enabled. To do so, use Registry Editor to
view the DisablePwdCaching DWORD value in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Network

If password caching is disabled, the DisablePwdCaching DWORD value has a
value data of 1. To enable password caching, change the value data to 0.

NOTE: If the DisablePwdCaching value does not exist, add this DWORD value
with a data value of 0 to the registry key listed above.

Note that you may need to remove this value altogether, and then restart
your computer to make caching work.
