answer. or at least no one has answered the post. this is
a real problem and I need help fixing it. PLEASE help or
at least direct me in a direction where I may get it.
Thank You,

some of the asx files Ive inserted in powerpoint will not
play on my machine. BUT some of them do. the ones that
dont WILL play on another machine. both running windows
XP and office XP. I can get them to play in media player
and with msplay32exe. in a powerpoint slide show all I
get is a white box where the videeo should be. it does
seem to incert into the presentation and there is a
picture of the first frame when working with PP but when
I go to play the presentation the vidoe will not come up.
again this only hapens with my machine. also i want to
add I use to have office 2000 and upgraded to xp hopeing
this will solve he problem. thid didnt. Ive completly did
a uninstall and a reinstall but the problem remains
HELP. there presentations are used as a teaching aid for
my HS classroom

We tried calling up the mpeg & wmv files with mplayer and
the files played fine (on a windows xp laptop). The
files in question would not play in Powerpoint either
in "Show" mode or "Edit" mode (powerpoint xp).

The only thing that seemed to work was to copy the
presentation from the computer that created those video
files. The video files were created using Windows Movie
Maker from footage imported through the firewire
connection from a dv camera.

The files play fine now, but I have no real idea how we
solved our problem. We suspect DRM, but we're not
convinced of it...
