I can't believe no one out there has the ability to help me with this
problem.
Below is what has transcribed so far.
Please, If anyone has the ability I need your help.

No, I don't think I do. I followed this link and they told me to an area
where there is supposed to be a checkbox to allow others users to access the
internet thru this computer but it's not there. All that is there is the
checkbox for the firewall. All three computers connect to a router
individually.

You DO NOT NEED internet connection sharing on any of your machines because
you have a router.

Ignore the firewall on the router, it's not important at the moment.

On each XP computer in turn.

I dont use the control panel network wizard because it's far too
complicated, I use the one accessed in Internet Explorer.

Open Internet Explorer - From the tool menu, select "Internet Options" to
open the wizard
From the dialog box, select the Connections Tab and click on the Setup
button, to set an internet connection.
The New Connection wizard opens
On the "welcome" screen select the "next" button
On the Network Connection Type screes select the "Connect to the internet"
option and click the "next" button
On the Getting Ready screen, select the "Set my connection manually" option
and click the "next" button
On the Internet Connection screen select the Connect using a broadband
connection that's always on
On the final screen, press "finish"

Try connecting to the internet at this time to see if its working.

To check that Internet Connection Firewall is turned off
Open the Network Connections applet in Control Panel.
Select the Local Area Connection in the right hand pane.
In the left hand pane, click on the "Change settings of this connection"
link
In the dialog box that opens, click on the Advanced tab. Uncheck the
Internet Connection Firewall option.

Now on to the firewall/router problem. Why do you think the 2 firewalls were
"clashing".? What model of router/firewall do you have?

I followed your instructions exactly and it didn't work.
I still get the same error message when I try to shut down the firewall.
I have a Netgear rp614v2 router. There are certain websites that will not
load because of the 2 firewalls. Such as E-bay, Tvguide and my mailbox at
Yahoo. Technical support at Netgear told me I need to disable the firewall
in Windows because there is a conflict.

WHAT makes you think it is two firewalls that prevent you loading those
sites? How does those sites behave? what happens when you try open them?

They time out.
Like I said, Technical support at Netgear said it was the two firewalls.
If I run directly to the modem I don't have any problem at all, so I am sure
the router has something to do with it.
Also I have another computer running XP without the firewall and that one
has no problem and another running ME without a firewall and no problem
there. The one running ME has the firewall in the router shut down because
it's my son and he plays games. The router will only allow you to disable
the firewall on one computer.

I use 2 firewalls too, software Zone Alarm and a Netgear FR114P, and have no
problem with ebay especially ;o)

When you say you disabled the firewall for your game playing son. Have you
actually added your son's machine as a DMZ machine or is the router
forwarding ports to his machine depending on the game he's playing? If he's
on DMZ, it's very dangerous as his machine will be treated as if it's
directly connected to the internet without router/firewall. Because he's
also on your network, this can have knockon effects to other users.
Aside from this, is the Netgear configured with default settings or have you
tried adding any rules of your own?

Back to your machine.

If there's no "allow other network users to connect through this computer's
internet connection" option on the advanced tab of the Local Area Connection
properties box, then that shows you dont have internet connection sharing
installed for this network adapter. That's good/correct.

Have you checked your event log (available from Administrative tools\ Event
Viewer)? This may give a better idea of what is happening when you try
disabling ICS/ICF.

Check your running Services from the Administration menu. In the Services
list, there should be an Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) entry.
Mine says Startup type is Manual, Status is not running and LogOn As Local
System.
Is it there? What is its status, startup type and LogOn As? Right click and
select "properties". Try turning it off from in there. Check through all the
tabs and see if anything looks wrong - especially on the dependencies tab.
Compare the values with any other xp machine you have at home.

It does sound as if your PCs network is screwed up.
If your machine were mine, Id start by trying to destroy all the components
for the local area connection eg TCP/IP clients etc. (It used to be easy to
do this with earlier versions of windows, I dont know if its the same for
XP.) then reinstall the network.
You say you tried to do this, what happened?

BINGO!!!!!
Good news and bad.
First the good. I was able to disable the firewall thru the event viewer in
administration tools.
Now the bad. Just as you suspected, that wasn't my problem. The browser
still hangs when I try to go to my mailbox in Yahoo or Tvguide.
But don't get me wrong I sure am not disappointed with your guys help. I
can't thank you enough.
One more thing.
Could you direct me to a news group that can help me with this problem??
Thanks again.

Try clearing your web cache.
From the Tools\internet menu in explorer, select the "delete files"
button -( NOT the delete cookies button unless you want to clear these out
too.)

FYI
I fixed it.
Under local area connection properties I unchecked Mcafee firewall network
filter and everything is working fine now.
