I was under the impression that Windows Mail would notify me when I received
a new email. I went through the options many times to make sure it was
trying to connect and check for new messages but still after testing it I get
no notification until I OPEN the program. Maybe I'm way off here but I
thought this was a pro I read about that Windows Mail didn't need to be open
to notify like Outlook. Anyone know? Thanks.

Hi Jon,

Sorry, Windows Mail needs to be open to get a new message notification.
If you want to add a tray icon for Windows Mail, you can with this free
program called "WinMailTray". This will minimize Windows Mail to the
tray icon instead of on the taskbar. You can download it from here:

Or u can use Windows Live mail, that minamizes to the system tray and pop's
up every email you get except the junk one's and u can even get your msn
hotmail email with that if u use msn hotmail you can get that from
http://get.live.com/betas/home i know it say's beta but i've been running
windows live mail from day 1 when it came out and had no problems with using
the program (looks & feels like outlook)
