Tried to buy a new Dell destop yesterday. Was told no current Dell
system supports parity/ECC memory. In fact Dell XPS Premium Support
made the statement ( by Mohammed_Alam) that
" ECC is not available in the market "
There is no merit to this. Many vendors sell it including
TigerDirect.com has Kingston ECC Registered DDR2 memory.
The Apple MacPro uses DDR2 fully buffered ECC memory.
Above all read www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1925520,00.asp
This is by David Coursey . Microsoft is pushing hardware vendors to
spec ECC memory in Vista systems.

Apparently Dell is behind in the memory game. What companies do
sell systems taking ECC ? Would I have to put it together with a
motherboard ?
Thank you for your kind assistance. Dave WB3DWE

Did you check the Dell work stations?
For the Precision 390 ECC is optional,
while the Precision 490 and 690 ECC is standard.
