I have a Winodws 2000 service 4 machine connecting to an
NT 4.0 domain without a WINS server.

The problem is that the only way i can get any of the
other NT servers or client machines to appear in network
neighbourhood is to install netBEUI and enble netBEUI over
TCP/IP. I found this quick fix in the MS KB's.

I hope that there is another fix for this as i do not want
to have to install the netBEUI protocol on every machine
in our domain just so that i can see them.

We have other Win 2000 machine on the domain and they are
having no problems connecting to all servers/clients via
network neighbourhood.

Can anybody please help as this problem is driving me
crazy !!!!

Is everything on an ipconfig/all from the W2K pointing to your server-IP?

what do you mean pointing?
how does one *point* their PC to a server?
thanks much,
mc

Do you let the clients obtain an IP automatically?
Give us the output of an ipconfig/all please.

Name Resolution, DNS & WINS. By default NT and 98 will use NetBEUI and WINS.
By default Win2K and XP use TCP and DNS.
Just get all your machines on the same system.
Best is to setup a Win2K Dynamic DNS for Your Local Network and have all
your clients use TCP and that DNS Server. If your Win2K has a DNS Zone for
itself, create one for the NT domain (Has to be Manually created and
maintained as NT does know Dynamic DNS).
