No more file handles left - How do I change in XP Pro to resolve?

Using a Dos application I get the message "No more file handles left". I need to increase my Files=40 to somthing like Files=200 but I can't find where to do this in XP. Can anyone direct me? Thanks.

Run regedit and gto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session
Manager\Environment create a new string value in the right pane called Files
and give it what ever value you need to then reboot.
