I have asked this question in this forum before but
without success. My original question, posted several
months ago, appears to have been deleted which I find
strange. Is this something Microsoft doesn't want to
discuss? Anyway, on with the problem.
I am having a persistent problem with Windows XP
Professional trying to connect to my local area network
[based on Windows 2000 server]. After I first boot the
machine and log on to the network I can see all machines.
Then, after a while, when I try to connect to other
machines on the network I keep getting this really
annoying message:
"Network is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resources. Contact the administrator
of the server to find out if you have access permissions.
No more connections can be made to this remote computer
at this time because there are already as many
connections as the computer can accept."
Note that it is referring to connecting to a "remote
computer" which is, in fact, wrong. I don't even get that
far. The error message appears as soon as I click on the
link to the domain name and I never get to see the links
to individual computers.
I have tried resetting the automatic disconnect times etc
but this doesn't appear to work.
The odd thing is that I am not doing anything that I
wasn't doing when my machine ran w2k but since changing
to XP this problem keeps on occuring. It is really
driving me nuts because the only way I can resolve it is
to reboot the computer.
