no more connections can be made...

when I browse to a share from a certina machine/logon I get the message "no
more connections can be made because there are already the max number of
connections..." I read a bit about this and found that the max is 10. That
is OK, I am not at that number. I also read about "net server
autodisconnect" setting and have set that to 5 minutes.
What bothers me about this is that it is machine/logon specific. If I log on
to that machine I can get there just fine but if I log on as the required
user then I get the message (and the users logon script won't complete
either for obvious reasons)
Are connections machine/logon specific like that? This could explain some
problems I have had that have no other explaination.
Can I make autodisconnect even shorter with no ill effects and would that
help?
Did I miss anything else to look for?

10 connections doesn't mean 10 computers, remember. One computer can have
multiple connections open. If you're getting this a lot, it may be time to
consider installing a server.

I have a server (it's the DC) but the application resides on a workstation.
Can I set the autotimout to zero to help with this? Will that cause any
problems?
