No more cd/dvd roms

I am also having trouble with my cd roms/ dvd ram. After
downloading latest critical updates I no longer have any
working drives. Thare is an error message in device
manager--Windows sucessfully loaded device drivers for
this hardware but cannot find the hardware device (code
41). Can anybody help? thanks in advance.
 
I am having a similar problem also.

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its
configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete
or damaged. (Code 19)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this
device.
