While waiting for my RTM Vista to arrive I clean installed the Vista
preview edition I got at the launch event. After installation there is
no display adapter or monitor shown in Device Manager. Trying to add new
hardware finds nothing new. Trying to force a display adapter but the
only thing shown is a couple of Intel video cards (I have an ATI X850).
The latest VISTA driver from ATI won't install.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Vista preview as in before Beta 1, Beta 2, RC1, and RC2?

If so, i wouldn't expect them to be there...
I'm im wrong, excuse me

I can't tell. All the DVD says is Vista Ultimate Pre-release. The
cardboard folder says Vista Launch Preview on the front. The fine print
on the back says it's a "pre-release intended to be used as a preview".
Since I just got it a Launch event I would hope it's a fairly recent
version. OTOH I should be getting my RTM version soon at which point
I'll give up on this one.

when was the Launch event held?

i'll ask u the build on there

Is that a fairly recent build. If so, I'm not favorably impressed. But I
am willing to wait for my RTM version before making a final judgement.
