No monitor display

This does not seem to have anything to do with OS but could anyone help?

I am not getting screen display at all including POSTing. I tried a
different video card, resetting BIOS and a different RAM stick to no
avail. All fans can run. HDD appears spinning. Pressing/holding the
power button shuts down the machine.

I would think 1)motherboard, 2)CPU, 3)PSU or 4)BIOS chip has gotten
defective.

Is there anything else I can try?

Try a different monitor.

How about the obvious thing before you start ripping through the machine,
try a different monitor.

Thanks to Carey and David for your responses.
I forgot to a include monitor in what I tried. I did tried a different
monitor.

If your video card requires a separate power connection,
make sure the connection cable is directly from the
power supply unit and not from another hardware device.

The first thing to check would be the connection between the video
adapter and the monitor. The second thing to check would be the
monitor, itself.

(And then you could start looking at the items you've already
eliminated or mentioned.)

You haven't mentioned if the display is getting power. Have you tried a
different monitor power cord? Have you tried plugging something else that
you know is working into the same outlet the monitor is plugged into? Does
the monitor display anything when it's powered on and NOT attached to the
computer?

Another hardware device? I'm racking my brain here trying to figure out
what you are talking about. Are you referring to splitters for case fans or
something like that? Or are you just talking nonsense again?

He's actually talking sense. Way over your head. Some graphics cards do
require power to be hooked up from a connection that feeds from the power
supply.

And other than a power 'splitter' or a case/older CPU fan, what other
hardware device that accepts power from the power supply has a passthru
for power to connect other devices to ?

DUHHHHYanaire opens his dopey mouth again!!

He's talking about some power connection that comes from 'another hardware
device' that is not the PSU.

I've built several high-end CAD workstations, that cost around $5000 USD,
and server machines. Just search my posts over the last ten years on Google
Groups in the hardware NGs I post to - I think I know what I am talking
about, retard.

Frisch doesn't know any more about hardware than he did 7 years ago.

From you posts it doesn't seem like it - retard. Better take the rest of
the day off. You are cranky.

Have you noticed how these outspoken Vista proponents take cluelessness to a
truly holistic level?

Yep, they're really good at that.

And they lie so much, especially about themselves, and everybody can see it.
They even lie about their politics. It's clear to me that Frank and Bill
Yanaire are Republican voters. Why are they too ashamed to admit it? I bet
BY has a Sarah Palin blow-up doll.

But I don't have a John McCain blow-up doll like you do.

For example, the NX6600GT-VTD128 card requires an external power source through
the molex power connector located on the top right hand corner, so it must be plugged it in before
starting up the PC or it won't work. The OP never stated what type of video card he had so this is a WAG.
NVIDIA suggests not to use a splitter connection but to only use a connection directly
leading from the PSU.
