I've just set up a new WinXP machine on an Asus P4P800SE motherboard wit
[email protected] and a BENQ 547 monitor. When I go to the device manager, there i
no class 'monitors' for me to be able to provide a driver. Any ideas how this ca
be renabled or what is preventing it from happening? (I have a second win2k
machine in a clients site running W2K that is doing the same thing)

right click on your desktop
click "properties"
click "settings" tab
click on "advance" button
click "monitor" tab

Is that what you are referring to?

Okay - I've found the fix if anyone is interested. It just means that the video-card drivers are no
installed correctly so the monitor can't be plugged and played. Once the video card drivers are installed, the class Monitor is now visible in the the device manager.

No - it wasn't - that was why I wrote that it was in the device manager. On that screen you see the default monitor properties but the properties button is disabled
