I recenlty did a clean reinstall of XP2 and I have noticed that the volume
control playback/record GUI has new options such as Mono Mix, Stereo Mix etc.
However the MIDI record slider is missing. It is there in the playback
option but not in the record section. I need this MIDI option. I have used
search engines and these forums but cant find any answers. Please help. I
thank you for your time.

A MIDI record volume slider can't exist, as MIDI is not sound but a
communications protocol (geared towards making sound).

So you can't need this option either... :-)

Besides, Windows does not bother about MIDI input. You need some MIDI
software to record.

Thanks Chris, you have kind of answered my question. I did have a MIDI
volume slider in the record properties prior to the reinstall but I also had
MIDI recording software installed (Cakewalk's Music Creator). I have
reinstalled the software and this is working fine and I have used exactly the
same settings as before (I wrote everything down before the reinstall). I
have explored the software's website etc without luck but this may be the
problem rather than Windows XP2. If you are right, at least I know where the
problem stems from. Thanks for taking the time!
