No microsoft word or works

My hard drive was replaced and the Compaq Quick Restore
cds were used. How can I get Microsoft works or word
back? R

Those are not and never have been a part of any Windows operating
system.
Use the CDs that came with the computer.
Check your manual and/or contact Compaq.
 
Sorry I beg to differ Jupiter, I have a windows 98 Se with Word as standard
and XP with works as standard, now unless I'm mistaken that make you a
laughing matter...!!!

You are mistaken...!!!
Your OEM computer may have come with those components.
But that does not make them part of Windows.

I am not counting WordPad which is a very basic word processor not at
all comparable to Word or Works.

Jupiter for the record I ordered from microsoft, xps operating system to
reinstall over windows 98, this set of 3 disks had on them Guess what? It
had works now tell me how that works?

You are mistaken.

Wordpad and Notepad do. Works and Word do not. They may have come bundled
with your computer, they are decidedly *not* part of Windows, never have
been.

My computer came with Quicken. Doesn't make it part of Windows.

Looks like the laugh's on you. Jupiter is correct, of course. Many OEMs
bundle additional programs with Windows.
