I wanted to view holiday photos as a slide show, but when I open "My
Pictures" folder there is no menu sidebar displayed. Consequently I am at a
loss to know how to view as slide show , and I have to burn to a CD using
other software. I suspect that the problem is in the settings, but I've tried
everything I know and still cant rectify the problem. How do I fix this?

What happens if you open a folder and go to...
Tools / Folder Options / General tab...

Tick..."Show Common Tasks In Folders" /
Apply / OK.

On your top tool bar, there is a yellow folder icon. Click on it and this
will change the view from displaying drives, etc. to displaying tasks menus.
If under the picture tasks menu you do not see View as a slide show or Copy
to CD items, do the following.

Click on Start and click on Run. Type the following in the opening box:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
