No Label Position available

I have a PP with several embedded charts. Some of the charts allow me to adjust the label position (Format Data Labels > Alignment > Label Position), but other do not even show the Label Position box. Does this have to do with the data for the chart or the chart type?

It may. Can you give us some examples of when you have the options and
when you don't?

Also, which version of PPT? And where are the charts coming from? Are
they embedded Excel charts, or are the PPT charts (that is, you chose a
chart layout and double-clicked or used Insert/Chart or something like
that)?
