No keyboard when entering Product key on install

I installed spysweeper on an xp pro machine to remove
some adware that was bothering. After the removal was
complete it asked to reboot my system. After the reboot
i clicked on the user to login and when I hit any key (to
enter password) i then loose both my mouse and keyboard.
I tried safe mode reboot but same thing. It was
impossible to login.

So I attempted to do a windows repair install. However,
when i get to the part of the install that you enter your
CD product key when i hit the first key I then loose the
mouse and the keyboard again. So now it is impossible to
complete the install too.

One important note is that shortly before it gets to this
point in the install when it is "installing components"
the system looks for the file "djtopr1150.exe". When I
looked this file up i see that it is some kind of
hijacker file used by adware. I am wondering if this has
something to do with me loosing my mouse and keyboard.

Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks!

So what happened with PE builder and replacing the keyboard / mouse
drivers? Why start another post?

Ahh I see why, you're using the web interface. Makes it very hard to
find old posts. Try using a newsreader if you can, like Outlook Express.

I messed with PEBuilder for like an hour or so and I cant
get it to build an ISO image to be used for a boot CD.
When you first start PE Builder it asks you to choose the
location of the windows installation files to be used
when building the image. However, i tried directing it to
every directory on my (2) copies of windows xp pro that I
have and when i check each dir it always say they are
invalid. I read the help for PEBUILDER and I see no
instructions. I checked the form recommened by the author
and no answers there. I then broke down and emailed the
author ealrier this afternoon and received no response.

In addition I broke down and subscribed to expert-
exchange and posted the question there and it has been
few hours and no one has been able to offer any assitance
there either.

I saw a similiar problem on another newsgroups and it was
fixed by coping a userinit.exe file from another machine
to the damaged machine and that did not work either. I
also tried using a USB keyboard and mouse and the same
thing happens. I get right to the end of the "installing
components" just before "finalizing" and the program
stops because it is looking for a file
called "djtopr1150.exe" in the documents/settings/etc/ect
folders. I click cancel it installs for a little while
longer then it comes to the section that i enter the
product key. The mouse is still working at this point. As
soon as I hit the first key the lights go off on the
keyboard and i loose it and the mouse. I looked up
that "DJTOPR1150" file and it is part of hijacker.
Something tells me that it has something to do with this
problem because it was a hijacker that i was trying to
remove when all this trouble started..

This is so aggravating....

should be looking for or doing now that I have these
tools available to me..

Can you explain please?

Interesting that the PE builder cd booted and you can use the keyboard.
We are both flying by the seat of the pants here so I don't have
specific directions to go from. First see if you can delete all
instances of that trojan file. Then try a repair install of your
system. If that doesn't work you can try removing the keyboard and
mouse driver files, but I have a feeling once you get rid of that trojan
it will allow a repair install.
