I have a computer that someone gave me and she gave it to me with no Restore
CD. She was moving, had a new computer and wanted to get rid of the old.

It's nice enough but I have a problem. I keep getting a message that says I
have no Java installed. I tried doing a Windows update and it says that
there is a problem with a key. :( I've no idea what this means.

In the meantime, I can't get many pages to load that run Java. One in
particular is very important to me. I've no idea what to do.

TIA,

Cindy

I meant to add that I have version 6.0.2600.0000.xpclient.010817-1148
Phew! That's a mouthfull.

MS,

You can install Sun Java here. You can't get it from Microsoft
anymore. Link below:
http://www.java.com/en/

First, check your Internet Options, Advanced Tab. Scroll down to see
if you have Microsoft Java VM installed, and check all the boxes to
enable it, if installed. Good luck.

You desperately need to update your Windows!
Please go to Windows Update again, and make a note of the EXACT error
message you get - including any error numbers (usually in the upper-right of
the page) displayed.

Yes, I was wondering this myself.

Will do. Thank you for offering this help. I'm about to have to leave, but
I'll come back this evening and do it.
