I have a desktop computer whose OS is Windows 2000. I also have a notebook
computer using Vista Home Premium. I have a router so that I can use the
notebook as a wireless computer. I was able to connect to the Internet with
both computers. In the process of trying to get my notebook to remotely
connect to my printer which is connected to my desktop computer, I
unwittingly uninstalled and deleted the "Client" option in the Local Area
Connection Properties on my desktop computer. Since doing this, I no longer
can connect to the Internet with my desktop computer, but I can with my
notebook. However, the Local Area Connection Status on the desktop computer
shows that it is connected. When I type cmd in Run and the type ipconfig
/all, it shows the IP Address as 0.0.0.0. In Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Properties, I have "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" checked. I tried
ipconfig /refresh, and I still could not get an IP address. I even tried
connecting my desktop computer directly to my RoadRunner modem and still
could not connect. I am assuming that my difficulty lies in the fact that I
deleted "Client". I am in a quandry on how to restore this. I hope someone
understands my problem and will be able to help me solve it.

You must re-install the Client, using the "Add" button in the
network configuration panel.
