Ever since I got this new comp with Vista I don't have internet half
of he time I boot up. I can reboot and it will work but it's very
frustrating having to reboot after booting up just to get my internet
working. Is this a Vista issue? I have an Asus mobo with onboard lan
connected to my cable modem. The gigabit lan drivers are up to date so
could it be Vista?

I get the same bug, i think is Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 with a Nvidia
network interface...

I once had a very similar problem that turned out to be a bug in the
driver. Well, actually, the real bug was in the hardware chip right
from the manufacturer -- and their own programmers took a long time
to recognize the new bug and include a workaround in their own driver.

I suspect if you are willing to wait long enough (maybe many months)
a driver update will fix your bug.

I can not get a wireless NIC to work with vista. what I am using on my second
desktop now is simply a Cat5 patch cable plugged straight into the
modem/router. no probs at all.

Mick,

I use a Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54GS) with a WUSB54GS wireless adapter
on one Vista machine and a WUSB54G wireless adapter on another Vista machine
with no problems.

If you are using Linksys, I can probably help you. I'm sorry, but I haven't
used other wireless NICS.

FWIW I have only found drivers for the 64 bit version of Vista for the
WMP54GS (Speedbooster).

54G only - driver - does not work with 64 Vista and neither driver works
with XP 64 bit.

At this time USB seems the only way to go for reliable networking with any
dual boot.
