Tyler

I don't know what the problem is with my internet
connection, I checked all of the ports and network
adapters in the device manager and they all say they are
working properly. I tried ipconfig/release and it
released the information, but when i tried ipconfig/renew
it gave me an error. Cannot because of DCHP. I'm not sure
if its my ethernet card, but when it says its sending
packets of information, but its not receiving any packets
in return. Could someone please help me with my problem.
Thanks.

Greetings Tyler,

What was the exact error that you received when you tried to renew your configuration?

When i type in ipconfig/release,

Ethernet Adapter Network Bridge
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
Autoconfiguration IP Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Subnet Marks: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
Default Gateway:

when i type in ipconfig/renew,

Windows IP Configuration
An error occured while renewing interface Network Bridge:
unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.

I'm running Windows XP Professional. I've tried the
winsock fixes, but they don't work either. I live in
residense at a university and other people have the
internet, but mine seems to not work. Any solutions?

I'm not sure if its a problem with my network card, it
seems to send packets, but doesn't receieve any. Would
reinstalling Windows XP overtop of the old version fix my
problem as a last resort if nothing else can fix the
problem? Thanks.

Just to clerify, it does find the ip address under
autoconfig IP address and it finds the subnet mask ip
address.
