I have an Ibm with Win2k installed. I'm trying to get it
connected to my wireless internet connection. When I open
IE it can't find my homepage and gives me an error saying
it can't find server or DNS error. I have a 98 machine
that is configured to "Obtain an IP address automatically"
and it will connect without any trouble. I've tried to set
the 2000 machine up the same but to no avail. The only
difference I can see is in 98 DHCP is disabled and in 2000
it is enabled. I don't have a network just a direct line
from my wireless modem to my nic. If anyone has any ideals
or comments I would really appreicate it. HELP!!!!!!
Thanks
Marc

Have you tried to statically assign an IP address to your Windows 2000
Client? Have you contacted your ISP for conf help? Most "Modem's" don't have
connections for 2 separate network cards.

Might be a DNS problem - you might have to configure a DNS server. Try
pinging or browsing to a web site by IP rather than name, like
http:\\216.239.39.99 (google). If you can reach it, then that is your
problem.

You might check on the W98 machine if it has an entry for DNS server
in the TCP/IP settings.
