OK,

So I have had this wierd problem where when I log onto Expedia.com all
of the j-peg images won't load and all I see is the little red x in the

pictures places. Funny thing is that it only happens on expedia's
page, AND in emails sent to me from expedia. I am running with Windows

XP sp2, Internet Explorer v6, and outlook express 6.
I have been wrestling this thing for a while now and have tried all of
the obvious fixes with no luck. I have tweaked the security settings,
cookies, pop-up blocker etc. Yes the "allow pictures" selection is
checked and I've cleared the cache. I've set the TIF to 100 mb. I
have run the comand regsvr32 /i mshtml. Nothing is working. So, I am
thinking that there is a corrupt host file or something like that. I
do not know how to fix this problem, I would love some suggestions.

Thanks,
Daryl

Hi Daryl :-)

try the following and see if it helps:

First - Do you have an accelerator supplied by your ISP? If so, try turning
it off.
It works by reducing image size (and therefore quality) for downloads.

Update your scripting engine. For 2000 and XP go to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en
The install includes a new jscript.dl

Update your video driver:

How To Update Video Driver

If you don't know the location of your Video driver, or how to find it:
Location for XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314854
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/learnmore/updatingdrivers.mspx
or......
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314854
Find the information on your video driver. Then go to the website for mfg.
of the video driver and look for the update to download and install. There
may also be a Update Driver button on the dialog box you can use to go
direct to the update download site.

also........

Try reducing hardware acceleration:
Right click on the Desktop on an open area,
Properties>Settings>Advanced>Troubleshoot
Move the slider back to the left a little and test to see if that helps.
Try it at increments until you get all the way to the left end to see if
that helps.

Hope this helps.

Well, thank you for the help but no success yet. I never thought of
the video driver, but am all up to date. I feel that at one time or
another something occured, because I do know for sure that I was not
having this problem when I first got this CPU.

Hi dpwaite

It may be that the images on that site are linked to/from a 3rd source and
something you have is blocking that source. Have you installed anything
lately? An update or other software?

Also, if you have any 3rd party programs that block adware or popups,
disable them. If you have any 3rd party toolbars that can do this, such as
Google, Yahoo or MSN, disable them.

Try checking your HOST file and be sure it is not in there.

How to Edit HOST File:

How to use the Hosts File

Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer

If you have McAfee, turn off the McAfee Privacy

Something on your system is blocking the images on that site, you will need
to find out what it is and disable, add it to your trusted sites or adjust
the setting.

Hope this helps.
