No image in thumbnails

No image of the photo in the file appears in the thumbnail
view. The large icon is displayed. The images appeared
fine at one time, then with no warning only the icons are
displayed and I cannot change them back.

The files that the thumbnails relate to have been

moved. Use "Search" for the files.
